Look Ok... Feel Crap?

What if my depression comes back?

If you’ve had depression and anxiety before, the best thing is to learn from your past experience - don’t ignore any signs that you’re getting more stressed or not coping.

Recovery and staying well is all part of the journey. You might remember recovery being described as a maintenance programme in the Keeping On Track section. As part of that you will have your good and bad days. Or maybe a good week followed by a bad week. It’s unrealistic to think that you’ll always be 100% happy and never feel down again. If you do feel down, it doesn’t necessarily mean your depression is coming back, but it does mean that it’s time to do something to make sure you don’t get any worse.

The absolute main thing to remember is that depression is an illness. It’s not a sign of weakness. If you have to go back to your GP and get more help, then do it. If you have to get more treatment, then do it.

You’re not alone.
