Chat; Weds 4th Jan @ 7pm

The New Year's chat will be held on Weds 4th January at 7pm.  The theme is "Sharing what's helped' which is a good opportunity to not only give others tips and ideas on reducing stress over the festive period, but in general so that in 2012 you can feel more in control over your mental wellbeing.

Office Christmas Closure Notice

Action on Depression will be closed from Friday 23rd Dec at 12 noon and will be open again on Tuesday 3rd January 2012.

Telephone Info Service

On Wednesday 30th November our weekly Telephone Information Service which normally runs from 2pm - 4pm will be closed, but will resume on Wednesday 7th December.  If you'd like to contact us via email instead, you're more than welcome to do so as this service is available more frequently.  Our email address is ask@actionondepression.org

Chat's Back...

Our chat is back on Weds 2nd Nov from 7pm until 9pm and you can check out further dates here.

We've asked our forum members for ideas of what they'd like to chat about, so the first theme will be on "Coping Strategies" and we have some more ideas to use for further chats. If anyone has anymore ideas, we'd love to hear from you.  Email ask@lookokfeelcrap.org and we'll add them to our list.

Changes to our telephone/e-mail support service

As from the 1st Oct, Action on Depression will be operating a weekly telephone information service. This service will operate every Weds from 2pm until 4pm.

The purpose of this service is to guide people towards appropriate help and support across Scotland and to give comprehensive and impartial information about depression and related topics.

Alternatively, you can email us. E-mails will be checked on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings and we will endeavor to give a response within 3 working days.

We are moving office!

We're moving in the week starting Monday 12 September. We're staying in the same building, so our address will stay the same but there will be some disruption to our services next week.

We will not have telephones so our helpline will not be working but we should have limited email access. It may take us longer to reply to emails however.

Half of site visitors find mutual support helps their depression

We recently asked people on this site if they think talking to other people who have experienced depression and anxiety can help. Of the people who replied, 50% said it helped

Most of these people said that chatting to someone else with a similar experience said that talking helped them feel like they were not alone.  The rest said that they benefited from the mutual support.
