Independant Advocacy
If you feel that it is, or may be, difficult to say what you want to your GP, or any other care provider, Independent Advocacy may be available to you in your area. Independent Advocacy is a free, non-judgemental and confidential service. An Independent Advocate gives you a voice when you feel that you are not being heard, for whatever reason. This may be by providing you with information about options so that you can make informed decisions or speaking on your behalf, for example.
There are a variety of forms of independent advocacy and many of independent advocacy services choose to be members of the Scottish Independent Advocacy Alliance (SIAA). A guide to Independent Advocacy and a directory of services in your area can be found on their website at www.siaa.org.uk
