Feeling Crap?

It is commonly thought that young adulthood is a time of freedom and fun, however for many of us who are affected by depression, low mood and anxiety, life can be anything but fun.

It can be quite devastating - setting you back at work or with your studies and affecting relationships with friends, family, colleagues, lovers and partners. With depression and anxiety it can be hard to remember how you felt when you were well, which can leave you thinking that feeling crap is your personality and that you will always feel this way.

Well, it probably isn’t and you probably won’t. Depression will affect people in different ways. Some of the common signs of low mood are:

  • Crying a lot and feeling sad a lot of the time
  • Feeling hopeless or inadequate
  • Not liking yourself
  • Lacking energy and the oomph to do anything
  • Being angry and irritable
  • Feeling lonely
  • Having trouble sleeping
  • Not wanting sex

There’s more listed on the wall of depression on the right. Click on the links above to learn more about the causes and symptoms of depression and anxiety. Or skip to the Getting help section to find out what you can do to start feeling better.
